  4. Support Local Business

One of the most important steps in defeating this corporatocracy is to support local businesses and buy local products.  If an economy free of corporate dominance is what we envision, then we need to support our local economy.  Many local businesses use corporate products within their business, but it is still a step up from a chain store.

At this point, it seems that shopping local, buying ethically produced products, is more important than who you vote for.  Think of it this way: if you support corporations, you give them more money to contribute to the candidates of their choice-those who will support their agenda rather than the peoples’.

“…CLGC’s memo proposes that the ABA pay CLGC $850,000 to conduct “opposition research” on Occupy Wall Street in order to construct “negative narratives” about the protests and allied politicians. The memo also asserts that Democratic victories in 2012 would be detrimental for Wall Street and targets specific races in which it says Wall Street would benefit by electing Republicans instead…”

  7. from Food Democracy Now:

"For the past several weeks, rumors of a “Secret Farm Bill” being hatched behind closed doors in Washington by only a handful of legislators and industrial agriculture lobbyists have been leaking out of Congress. Right now 4 members of the House and Senate ag committees are meeting to rush the 2012 Food and Farm Bill to the Super Committee and steal any chances for reforms for local, organic and healthy food until the next Farm Bill comes up in 2017. Please make an urgent call to the listed leaders of the House and Senate ag committees today to tell them to say no to corporate greed and NO to the “Secret Farm Bill”.

We know not everyone enjoys making calls, but they make the biggest impact. We’ve made it super easy with a simple script and stopping the “Secret Farm Bill” is vital for the future of our food, health and democracy. Make sure they hear your voice today. If you can’t reach the listed Senators or Congressmen, please call your own by dialing the Senate switchboard: (202) 224-3121 and the House switchboard: (202) 224-3121”

  9. Corporations Fighting Occupy?

Although the internet blacklist bill has been in the works, interesting that it’s being pushed through now. The internet is the biggest threat to corporations and the 1% - their way of life, their ability to control the marketplace, their ability to control information. And now, it seems, their ability to control information related to the occupy movement? tumblr/Twitter/YouTube/web 2.0 are essential to the movement, and a bill like this is the most damaging thing corporations and the government can do.
